The Kroon Vineyard, with its ferricrete soil, is the highest vineyard on Iona. The wine offers an array of seductive black fruits that include berries, cherries and ripe summer plums. The palate is gentle yet generous with pure succulent fruit, bright acidity, and charming velvety fine-grained tannins resulting in a wine that is nuanced, textured and perfectly balanced with a long savoury finish.

“Two Vineyards called Kloof and Kroon. Both differ markedly from each other, suggesting that the term “terroir” is meaningful in this context. One is palpably “earthier”, while the other as an almost crystalline purity. They are likely to cement Elgins and Iona’s reputation for the so-called heartbreak grape and add to the growing fascination with single-site wines.”
